Computer Capability

In order to keep abreast of the rapid developments taking place in every field, computerization is an imperative need for any growing organization. This is particularly applicable to disciplined consultancy firms like MAK.E.S, which have to depend on computer applications both for acquisition of state-of- the-art expertise and for retaining their competitiveness with respect to other consultants. In line with these needs, MAK.E.S has established a central mini-computer based system as well as distributed micro-computer facilities. MAK.E.S has started use of the high speed wireless internet with 10 MB bandwidth. Wireless technology for LAN has been adopted to cover remote areas. The number of Pentium IV core i5 Computers & Workstations in MAK.E.S is increasing continuously. At present, there are over 10 Pentium IV Core i5 Computers 2 Workstations for rendering and plotting with color Plotters, Laser / Color Printers, UPS, Scanners etc. There are also 06 Laptops. MAK.E.S has a sizable software library for its computers with nearly fifty programme packages for engineering analysis and design, as well as general-purpose applications. Several of these packages have been developed, modified and updated by MAK.E.S Computer Specialists. MAK.E.S has “Response System II (QRS-II) Version 7″ software for traffic modeling. It is a product of Center for Urban Transportation Studies, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, USA. It is used worldwide for forecasting impacts of Urban Developments on Highway Traffic and for forecasting impacts of highway projects on travel patterns. MAK.E.S has an-other software ROADCALC in its library, which is being used electronically in highway drafting. ROADCALC from Engineering Data System (EDS) Corporationis a computer software package with roadway design, earthwork computations and drafting capabilities. It is an interactive tool providing speed, accuracy and economy of roadway design. ROADCALC interface facility with AutoCAD MAK.E.S it more powerful and applicable from beginning to drafting. MAK.E.S has successfully developed, tested and implemented a package of over twenty models to be used for computerized mapping. This package takes survey field observations and processes into individual drawing files for computerized plotting. These drawing files contain all data to be shown including drawing outlines, title block, notes, text, symbols, grids, etc. This package is designed for mapping of a wide variety of systems including power distribution systems, highways, road networks & urban infrastructure, and of related geographical features (roads, railways, property lines, rivers, etc.). It can easily be adapted to any mapping application. The hardware configuration currently with MAK.E.S has permitted the preparation of over 40 A-1 size maps (33.1″ x 23.4″) per day. This capacity has been expanded to cover A-0 size maps (46.8″ x 33.1”) as well. This new field of expertise augments existing expertise in such fields as engineering and scientific applications, data-base applications, financial systems, management information systems, etc.
